Abandona la medicina y se va a recorrer el mundo tras su atormentada pasión pictórica. Es en ese otro mundo del arte de la pintura donde Jorge Noceda Sánchez encuentra los poderes de curación que anhelaba. Y su pintura refleja esa búsqueda. Un horizonte perenne que se transforma quedamente en lontananza y en cuyo primer plano van apareciendo árboles, arlequines, toros abandonados en un desierto infame.

Jorge Noceda Sánchez pinta con deleite, con fruición, siendo uno de los pintores dominicanos mejor iluminados.

DR. JORGE NOCEDA SANCHEZ, a native of the Dominican Republic, received his medical degree from the University of Santo Domingo in 1952. He continued post-graduate work at New York University specializing in Gastroenterology.

He began to paint as a hobby in 1956. Soon he became completely absorbed in his new interest and enrolled at the National Academy of Fine Arts (New York City), where he received instruction from leading French and American artists including Robert Philip and the late Rene Bouche. His technique and magnificent color sense found immediate acceptance, resultingg in successful exhibitions I New York, Havana and Santo Domingo, Later, he showed in Washington, D.C., Paris and Mexico City. Encouraged by good critical reception and public response, Dr. Sanchez decided to devote all his energies to painting.
In 1959 Dr. Sanchez embarked on a world tour which brought international recognition. During this tour he exhibited in Tokyo, Hong Kong, New Delhi, Tel Aviv, Athens, Rome and at the Royal Academy in London. In 1960 he won a Gold Medal Award at the Biennial in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1964 the Dominican Republic appointed Dr. Sanchez Cultural Attache of the Dominican Embassy in Tokyo. In 1965 Dr. Sanchez returned to the United States. He has exhibited at Galleria 88 in Rome, the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. and the Caravan and Hammer Galleries in New York City.
In 1966 Dr. Sanchez began exhibiting in Florida. He had a one-man show at the Joan Wiften Gallery in Miami, and in 1967 was the first Dominican painter to exhibit at the Association Fraternal Latinoamericano. In December 1967 he was invited to exhibit at the Elliott Museum in Stuart, Florida. Later that spring, he was one of the few artists invited to exhibit in the indoor show of the Museum of Science Fine Arts Exhibit. He has exhibited there in 1968 and 1969.

Ureña Rib has seen his work exhibited around the World and holds a prominent position on the Art scene in his own country, but he admits to be particularly drawn to Montreal, which he visits annually. Renting a studio in the downtown Belgo Building, he immerses himself enthusiastically in the creative and diverse atmosphere of Montreal producing here his works.
